Loud & Silent Protests

Dear Journalists,

Newspaper El Nuevo Herald reports front page on this date that Hugo Chavez because of political choices has stopped funding a hospital for people with very low financial resources in need of medical attention. Isn’t this a crime against humanity?

While I write this posting Venezuelans are marching in Caracas protesting the out-of-control insecurity.

The following “confidential” report from Chavez’s government is currently circulating the Internet.

Among the 279 pages the official report says that in 2009 Venezuela had 19,133 murders and 16,917 kidnappings.

Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat wrote on his column about the economic damage that Chavez has caused by breaking diplomatic relations at will with Colombia:

A special thanks to Stefania Fernandez, Miss Universe 2009, for making her silent protest as the world watched her last walk with the title: (please read full page format)

“Meantime, Chavez is using crime as a tool to oppress. Why that doesn't merit sanctions by the international community remains a mystery.” www.investors.com

No Joke

Dear Journalists,

The New York Times’ front page story on this date is the out-of-control violence in Venezuela. I wonder if Hugo Chavez is either allowing it to intimidate using his buddies, or is unable to control it.

Venezuela, More Deadly Than Iraq, Wonders Why

Over 800,000 youngsters have left Venezuela in 10 years

Just imagine families raising children, and teenagers under a pathological living environment where the president has no respect, nor cares about the well-being of citizens. The youth have only known one leader, and some live with post-traumatic stress after witnessing victims of crime.

Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat’s article ¿Cuál es el chiste? comments on Hugo Chavez’s dismissing, and minimizing as a joke the charges filed by several individuals against him at the International Criminal Court. (Please read my previous posting dated August 14, 2010)

Amb. Taylhardat explains that Chavez has allegedly hired French attorney-at-law Jacques Berger to defend him against criminal charges. So, more expenses for Venezuelan citizens to pay on behalf of Chavez.

Violence has also reached the military where a few days ago a soldier killed two individuals, and injured 15 others inside a military fort.

Concerning U.S. Ambassasdor to Venezuela Larry Palmer the U.S. State Department has issued the following statements on August 23, 2010:

QUESTION: I’m asking because it appears that President Chavez does not think that your ambassador designee – your nominee to Venezuela will be an effective – and --
MR. CROWLEY: And we continue our conversation with Venezuela, and we believe that Larry Palmer, if confirmed by the Senate, will in fact be an effective ambassador and an effective interlocutor between our government and Venezuela.
QUESTION: Have the Venezuelans withdrawn agreement?
MR. CROWLEY: No.
QUESTION: They haven’t.
