Students' protests in Venezuela

Dear Journalists,

Protests from pro and against Chavez, destruction by Chavez's thugs, and Chavez's threats dominated the news in Venezuela during the week. Chavez threatened students that he will use "the good tear gas" against them while his thugs destroyed government properties such as the new Mayor's building as shown in the attached links below:

Press Bulletin from movie star Maria Conchita Alonso

The attached press bulletin from movie star Maria Conchito Alonso is very moving. She is calling for Venezuelan citizens to please vote No in the upcoming elections. That is, against Hugo Chavez! Ms. Alonso explains how it was like when she lived in Cuba under the oppression of Fidel Castro. She also shares how it was comforting when she arrived with her family to Venezuela, and she does want to see the Cuban oppression in Venezuela.

Breaking News: Venezuela's Political Disaster - January 19, 2009

Update

Dear Journalists,

Chavez's forces are attacking students at Universidad de los Andes in Merida. Students are phoning, an e-mailing from inside the campus asking for help, and to let everyone know what is taking place.

Noticias24 has the following report:

In the meantime in Caracas, university students who delivered a document to City Hall were attacked by Chavez's supporters with molotov bombs, and tear gas.

Similarly, another molotov bomb was thrown at the residence of Marcel Granier who is the owner of Radio Caracas Television.

Chavez's official threatened journalist and was caught on tape. The journalist is denouncing the threat as she was told by Chavez's official to stop reporting about another official or she will see ....

You may recall the another infamous Chavez's official when she physically attacked another journalist on live TV:

Hummm, perhaps there is too much use of coca leaves.

It seems that the attackers are acting on behalf of Chavez's orders.

Venezuelans need help from developed governments and international organizations to restore democracy and end corruption.

Some Good News from Venezuela

Infamous Chavez decided to "shut-up" and stop abusing the nation seizing the television networks for the time being until the elections scheduled for February 15, 2009 where Venezuelans will vote to allow or not indefinite re-election of government officials including the presidents.

The fact that Chavez is giving peace of mind to Venezuelans from his abusive seizing of the networks is way too late. Citizens can not stand his abuse of power any longer, and his time is over!

Venezuelan Mayor Leopoldo Lopez won the Best Mayor of the World 2008 and he was honored in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates earlier this week:
