Venezuela's Political Disaster - March 17, 2007

Dear Journalists,

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!

I wonder what kind of reaction the nationwide CITGO humane commercial airing during prime time television is causing to the American public. The few individuals who I have asked about it are totally disgusted of having CITGO use uneducated and/or poor American citizens back-up a "freaking" dictator. The CITGO stations in the area are usually empty, and it seems that Joe Kennedy stopped the Citizens Energy commercial, and now it is just unmasked plain CITGO advertising.

While "humane" CITGO which is owned by Chavez after a sudden take over firing 18,000 specialized employees provides low cost heating oil to the world poor, Venezuelans can not have human rights officers pay a visit to the hostage country to see first hand what is their quality of life. As a matter of fact, no human rights officer from the Interamerican Human Rights Commission have been able to visit Venezuela since the year 2002!

Below please find link to article written by Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat "Bochorno en Washington" commenting on the heated argument that took place last week at the Organization of American States:

The following link is to article from Le Temps in Geneva written by Alain Deletroz and re-published by International Crisis Group explaining Chavez's actions in the oil market:

All your cooperation in reporting the terrible situation in Venezuela will be greatly appreciated.
