Venezuela's Political Disaster - May 28, 2007

Dear Journalists,

After a major peaceful protest that took place last night involving supporters of Radio Caracas Television (RCTV) including citizens of all ages who were restrained by Chavez's police, Chavez has declared that any media reporting the abuse that took place yesterday executing his whim as "closure" would be facing law suits as reported in the link below:

Peaceful protesters defending freedom of speech will gather again today at 2:00 PM in Plaza Brion in Chacaito, Caracas.

Next please read report "Venezuelan TV Station Goes Off the Air" written by Associated Press Journalist Christopher Toothaker and published in The Washington Post:

It seems that Chavez besides a deranged dictator is also a coward. As I understand, Chavez is surrounded by hundreds of Cuban bodyguards, no one can get close to his residence, nor to the places where he travels to. The people who usually appear on pictures standing next to him are allegedly on his payroll.

The European Union is expressing concern for RCTV's inability to broadcast as reported in the link below:

It is of utmost importance for the international organizations to help Venezuelans restore democracy at this time.

I will be updating my blog through the day as needed, but will not be sending update e-mails.

Cordially,
