Venezuela's Political Disaster - January 6, 2006

Dear Journalists,

Chavez is asking Human Rights representatives not to get involved in his decision to shut down RCTV network in Caracas as indicated in the link below from Eluniversal.com:

http://english.eluniversal.com/2007/01/05/en_pol_art_05A821483.shtml

Chavez's attitude seems similar to the typical behavior of an abuser as indicated in the following link:

Who can help Venezuelans to preserve their human rights? How can just one individual loaded with oil money manipulate a nation? Perhaps if Chavez went into therapy as indicated in the previous link he may see the people's need under a healthier perspective.

All your cooperation to help Venezuelans keep their freedom of speech and all human rights is urged.

Cordially,

Venezuela's Political Disaster - January 4, 2007

Dear Journalists,

Attached below please find link to article written by Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat commenting on the announced closing of RCTV network in Caracas. Mr. Taylhardat emphasizes that the closing of RCTV violates human rights articles 57 & 58 of Venezuela's Constitution, and explains Chavez's abuses against freedom of speech:

http://opinion.eluniversal.com/2007/01/03/opi_685_art_03A820509.shtml

El Universal.com reports that "The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) has ruled in favor of reporters, workers and managers of private TV channel Radio Caracas Television (RCTV). The action is related to a complaint filed against the Venezuelan state for violation of freedom of expression, personal integrity, judicial rights, due process and judicial protection, under the American Convention on Human rights."
http://english.eluniversal.com/2007/01/04/en_pol_art_04A821245.shtml

At the same time, Chavez fired his Vice President, Jose Vicente Rangel, who is a journalist, and had for many years his own television show criticizing government abuses prior to turning face and joining Chavez. I wonder if JVR had a moment of sanity and fought against the closing of RCTV. Next please find link to Reuters article "Venezuela's Chavez fires justice min and vice-pres" published on The Washington Post.

All the media cooperation in reporting the human rights abuses taking place in Venezuela will be greatly appreciated.

Venezuela's Political Disaster - January 1, 2007

Dear Journalists,

Happy New Year 2007!

Venezuela Real blog is reporting that the case of Chavez's closing RCTV television network in Venezuela will be sent to the Organization of American States as a violation of freedom of speech:

http://venezuelareal.zoomblog.com/archivo/2006/12/31/caso-Rctv-con-condiciones-para-ser-lle.html

I urge journalists to please follow-up on the RCTV case since indeed seems like a complete violation of human rights, and just another Chavez's act of intimidation.

Please know that RCTV has been reporting Chavez's abuses, and Chavez's calls the journalists coupsters. It seems that the infamous leader is paranoid after his own uprisings in 1989, and coup d'etat attempts in Venezuela 1992. I was in Caracas in 1992 and watched Chavez and thugs trying to overthrow the government of President Carlos Andres Pérez. When Chavez was interviewed on television dressed in militaty uniform was sending eye morse codes to his followers. So who is the real coupster Chavez or RCTV?

Chavez should stop intimidating Venezuelan citizens and work to promote peace and harmony in the segregated society. He should start by actively helping the middle class to get out the financial abuses he has imposed to citizens. And, assure that everyone has the right to succeed in life, and not just his already financially overloaded supporters.
