Venezuela's Political Disaster - December 30, 2006

Dear Journalists,

Anderson Cooper of CNN asked if Saddam Hussein was crazy or just a dictator "Do you think he was -- I mean, was he crazy? Was he just a -- a dictator? What -- as you look at him as a man, as a human being, what was he?" during his great coverage last night of Hussein's execution. Isn't megalomania a mental illness? It is odd that most of dictators are narcissists and adore to have huge statues and images of themselves? Just look at pictures of Saddam Hussein, Saparmurat Niyazov, Muammar al-Gadhafi, etc.

Chavez in his alleged distorted mind may dream of ruling Venezuelans with a whip as an authoritarian leader. His most recent outrage is the announcement of closing of RCTV television network in Venezuela. RCTV started broadcasting responsible journalism since 1953, and now Chavez who seems unable to stand free speech from those who oppose him is refusing to renew RCTV's broadcast license as indicated in the following link:

Maybe Chavez would end up like Saddam Hussein, or Ceascescu after abusing the people's freedom of choice. Comparing President Jacques Chirac who has led France since 1995 and who still has the option for another presidential term, and infamous Chavez, it is easy to see a decent leader and a deranged man. Or would Chavez prove otherwise?

Cordially,
